Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa state has announced his defection from the People’s Democratic Party PDP to the All Progressives Congress APC
The Governor made the announcement in a statewide broadcast on Friday, saying his decision is motivated by the need to move the state forward
The signals were obvious, and Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s move to the APC was only a matter of when
That was made clear on Friday morning’s statewide broadcast.
The Governor is not moving alone. Just two days ago, 15 members of the Adamawa Stae House of Assembly including the speaker had announced their resignation from the PDP, ostensibly to ready their defection to the APC.
Governor Fintiri confirmed that on Friday, saying he is moving with the whole train of elected and appointed officials.
Shortly after the broadcast, the Governor proceeded to register his membership of the All Progressives Congress APC.
Meanwhile, the forum of Adamawa state commissioners have in solidarity with the Governor endorsed the defection and have since moved out of the PDP to the APC as well.
Fintiri’s defection means that the PDP is left with only three states, Bauchi, Oyo, and Zamfara.
