Ondo: Police Warn Against Night Worship

Ondo State Police Command has cautioned religious leaders across the state against holding night services especially in isolated areas following the recent abduction of worshippers at a church along the Uso/Owo Expressway.

The State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, disclosed this on Friday while parading 28 suspected criminals at the Command’s headquarters in Akure, the state capital.

statistics indicate a rise in kidnapping cases in recent weeks, the most recent being the abduction of five worshippers at a church in Uso, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The Police Commissioner addressed journalists on measures being taken to improve security.

CP Adebowale Lawal revealed that the Command has arrested 286 suspected criminals from January to date.

He added that the police is ready to deploy security drones and other modern crime-fighting technology to curb the spate of kidnappings and related offences in the state.

The Commissioner also cautioned religious leaders against holding night services, especially in isolated areas, following the recent abduction of some worshippers.

Items recovered by the Command between January 2026 and now include 15 firearms, 36 rounds of ammunition, six vehicles and 11 motorcycles.
