The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has approved the confirmation of appointment for 1,659 staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The workers were among 2,281 candidates who participated in a confirmation examination conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, 2026.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the Chairman of the commission, Emeka Ezeh, said 2,512 candidates were initially invited for the exercise but only 2,281 appeared for the examination.
Ezeh noted that 224 officers failed to show up, raising suspicions that some of them might be ghost workers.
He added that several of the staff who sat for the confirmation test were originally employed as far back as 2016 and 2019, while others joined the service shortly before Wike assumed office as FCT Minister in August 2023.
The commission also disclosed plans to conduct both the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises for FCTA staff, following approval by the minister and in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
Affected candidates have been advised to check the commission’s official website for further information.
