President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to screen and confirm the nomination of Professor Francis Ifeanyi Asokwa as Commissioner representing South-East in the Nigerian Law Reform Commission.
The request is contained in a letter to the Senate, in which the President sought the confirmation of Asokwa’s appointment for an initial term of five years, with effect from March 18, 2026.
The letter which is transmitted in line with Section 2(1) of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission Act 2022, urged the Senate to give expeditious consideration to the request.
The nomination has been referred to the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters to screen the nominee and report back to the Senate as soon as possible.
