The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has granted an Air Operator Certificate, AOC, to Enugu Air to commence scheduled flight operations within the country.

The certificate was issued on March 10, 2026, at the Authority’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s domestic aviation sector.

Director-General of Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo, described the development as another milestone for the industry, noting that the Authority has been working to make the certification process more efficient while ensuring that operators meet all required standards.

He commended Enugu Air for “successfully completing the rigorous certification process” but urged the airline to maintain strict compliance with safety and operational standards.

Najomo warned that “any drop in standards could lead to the withdrawal of the certificate.”

The NCAA boss also praised the Authority’s technical team and the airline’s management for their dedication throughout the certification process, which included “operational demonstrations, documentation reviews and several evaluation stages.”

Responding on behalf of the airline, Captain Tolu Ita described the certification as a “dream come true”, thanking the NCAA for its guidance and oversight throughout the process.

Enugu Air seeks to connect the Southeast to the world, elevate regional pride, and redefine the flying experience in Nigeria and Africa.
