D’TIGRESS Rally Past Philippines 101–84 In World Cup Qualifiers

Seven-time African champions D’Tigress of Nigeria produced a strong second-half performance to defeat the Philippines 101–84 at the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Lyon, France.

Nigeria trailed 51–42 at halftime, but a tactical adjustment by head coach Rena Wakama sparked a comeback as the team returned with improved ball movement and stronger defense.

Murjanatu Musa and Nicole Enabosi delivered standout performances, both recording double-doubles.

Enabosi scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Musa impressed on both ends of the floor and was named Most Valuable Player, contributing eight assists and driving Nigeria’s transition play.

Four other players also finished in double figures.

Victoria Macaulay led the scoring with 16 points, while Ezinne Kalu, Elizabeth Balogun and Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah combined for 37 points.

With the win, Nigeria moves temporarily to the top of Group A in Lyon, pending the outcome of the match between hosts France and Germany.

D’Tigress have already secured qualification for the main tournament and will face hosts France on Sunday.
