Zamfara security: bandits sacks six communities in Anka, Bukkuyum LGAs

Suspected bandits have reportedly killed several persons and abducted unspecified number of residents of six different communities in Anka and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

Sources said, the suspected bandits had sacked six communities of Barayar Zaki, Wanu, Rafin Gero, Laho, Lallaho, Kurfar Danya, and Dutsin dan ajiya in Anka and Bukkuyum local government areas of the State.

They said the bandits killed, destroyed valuables, abducted and displaced several persons, including women and children in the six affected communities.

The sources also explained that the bandits who were about 300 and armed with sophisticated weapons stormed the communities on motorcycles and started firing sporadic gunshot killing score of residents, including 10 vigilante operatives who engaged in gun duel with the bandits to defend their communities.

According to the sources, residents of the affected communities have run to the headquarters of Anka local government where they are currently seeking for refuge.

The Zamfara State Commmissioner for Information Ibrahim Dosara confirmed that it was true suspected bandits attacked some communities in Anka LGA but he is still working to get the details of the incident.

Dosara said, when the news of the bandits’ attack filtered in the security forces, especially the military responded promptly to repel the attack and restore normalcy in the affected area.
