Oyo State Police Command has foiled an armed robbery attempt on the Ogbomoso-Ilorin Expressway, arresting a suspect and recovering a tanker loaded with diesel.
A joint patrol team of police operatives and local vigilantes encountered the armed robbers at Egbeda Village, Ogbomoso, who had blocked the highway and stopped the tanker.
A gun duel ensued, and one suspect, Dere Yahaya, 32, was apprehended, while others fled into the bush with bullet wounds. The police and vigilantes are on the hunt for the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, commended the bravery and quick response of the operatives and local security partners, emphasizing the command’s commitment to maintaining public safety and safeguarding lives and property.

In a separate incident, a suspect was arrested in connection with a fatal incident in Asalu Community, Ibadan, where one person died.
The altercation involved a group of youths. The police is working to apprehend other suspects.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, collaborating with security agencies to ensure a safer environment for all.
