In its efforts to sanitise and reclaim Orsu Local Government Area from the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, the Nigerian military has continued its clearance operations in the area.
Speaking during a media tour at Orsuihite Ukwa, the Garrison Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze Jude Agbo said troops are currently engaged in clearing landmines and improvised explosive devices planted along major roads in Orsu, as part of efforts to restore safe movement within the community.
The terror and repeated attacks in the area have displaced many residents, leaving communities deserted and people homeless.
During the visit, troops of Operation Udoka toured several parts of the community, including boundary areas between Imo and Anambra States where troops had earlier engaged suspected terrorists.
Some abandoned buildings, once used as operational bases by the armed groups, have now been dislodged by the troops

The Ekeututu Market, one of the busiest markets in the area, has not been spared from the devastation. It now lies in ruins, with socio-economic activities brought to a halt.
As part of efforts to restore peace, troops successfully cleared several improvised explosive devices planted along different access roads into the community.
Community leaders in Orsu while commending the military for its efforts called on the Federal Government to sustain the operations until the area is completely secured and residents can safely return to their homes.
The military says the ongoing operations are part of a broader strategy to restore lasting peace, rebuild affected communities, and revive economic activities in Orsu LGA and its environs.
