President Bola Tinubu is in Lagos for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, where he has called on Muslims across Nigeria to embrace renewed patriotism and strengthen national unity.

The President returned to the country on Thursday after a two-day State Visit to the United Kingdom.

In his Eid-el-Fitr message, the President urged Muslim faithful to reflect on the spiritual significance of Ramadan, describing it as a period of discipline, sacrifice, and devotion to God and humanity.

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu called on Nigerians to sustain the values imbibed during the holy month beyond the festivities.

He emphasised that virtues such as piety, selflessness, perseverance, kindness, and compassion should continue to guide citizens’ actions, especially at a time the country requires unity and collective resolve.

“We have a lot to draw from the noble lessons of Ramadan, especially at a time like this. We must continue to abide by the virtues of piety, selflessness, perseverance, kindness and compassion beyond this period,” the President said.

The President also urged Muslims to extend acts of charity to the less privileged, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, as a demonstration of shared humanity.

He further called on religious leaders to use the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr to pray for peace, stability, and prosperity across the country.
