Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has threatened to sanction state civil servants who fails to report to work promptly.
The Governor gave the warning during an unscheduled monitoring exercise at the Jerome Udorji State Secretariat in Awka, early Thursday, but observed that only a handful of workers were at duty their posts.
Just few hours after swearing-in some key government appointees, Governor Soludo, has decided to implement the automation of state civil servants attendance and a routine inspection of workers turn out in the state.
The Governor who was visibly unhappy with the level of turn out of workers upon arrival at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat in Awka, took an on-the-spot assessment Ministry-by-Ministry, desk-to-desk, but to his dismay, the record was poor.
Governor Soludo then mandated that civil servants who have been locked outside for coming after 10 o’clock in the morning and those absent, be punished.
On the physical structures at the secretariat complex, the Governor says emergency upgrade will commence immediately, with power supply adequately put in place.
AIT.live reports that just after the Governor’s arrival at the secretariat premises, words went round and a large number of the workers besieged the entrance gate of the State Secretariat moments later.
