Over 200 rounds of ammunition have been recovered from a 25-year-old woman, Nafisa Usman, arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) for allegedly supplying arms to bandits.
The suspect was intercepted at a motor park in Kano while transporting the consignment from Lafia to Kankara, where the ammunition was reportedly meant for bandit groups operating in the forest axis.
Security sources say the arrest followed actionable intelligence, leading to the disruption of a cross-border supply chain before the delivery could be completed.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to being involved in the illicit trade for about two months, revealing links to a supplier identified as “Teso,” said to be collaborating with a soldier in Lafia.
She also disclosed that she had facilitated transactions worth about ₦5 million, supplying ammunition to multiple individuals, including a bandit leader identified as Mallam Haruna.
The DSS says the operation has dealt a significant blow to criminal networks fueling insecurity in the North-West, as efforts continue to track down other members of the syndicate.
