Kano State Government has given itself an ambitious target to register four million eligible voters within seven days in order to expand voter participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This initiative is part of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration, CVR exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, anchored by a special task force constituted by Governor Abba Yusuf.
Leading the campaign, is the Chairman of the State Task Force and Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Waiya, who says a coordinated mobilisation strategy is already underway, as the government is leveraging both conventional outreach and digital platforms to engage eligible citizens, particularly young people.
At the Sani Abacha Stadium, designated as a mega registration centre, multiple registration points have been set up to ensure a seamless and efficient process for applicants.
Ibrahim Waiya says the state is determined to meet its target of registering four million new voters within the seven-day window to boost its voting profile.
Meanwhile, INEC officials continue to carry out daily registration activities at the centre, while members of the State Task Force are being deployed across key locations to sensitise residents and encourage mass participation in the exercise.
