Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM has officially set the stage for the Nigeria Diaspora Economic Conference, NIDEC, 2026, billed to hold from August 13 to 15, 2026, at the Apollo Convention Center, Toronto, Canada.
The announcement was made at a media conference in Abuja by the Chairman/CEO, NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
Describing the event as a landmark in diaspora engagement, Dabiri-Erewa highlighted the strategic importance of transitioning from remittances for consumption to remittances for sustainable investment.
She noted that Nigerians abroad contribute over $20 billion annually to the national economy and NIDEC 2026 is designed to channel these resources and expertise into practical nation-building initiatives.
The coference which has as its theme: “Invest Nigeria, Thrive Abroad,” will serve as a structured platform for diaspora professionals, investors, and entrepreneurs to explore high-impact sectors essential for Nigeria’s economic transformation, among others
The Acting Nigeria High Commussion to Canada in his statement said that plans are underway to make the event memorable and impactful.
NIDEC 2026 is expected to host government officials, investors, entrepreneurs, financial institutions, development partners, and diaspora professionals from across the globe, solidifying Nigeria’s commitment to deepening diaspora investment and engagement.
