Preparations for the October 17, 2026 Local Government Council elections in Kogi State have gathered momentum, as the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) steps up collaboration with security agencies to ensure a credible electoral process.
The Chairman of KOSIEC, Mamman Nda Eri, made this known during a meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security held at the Kogi State Police Command headquarters in Lokoja.
The meeting brought together key federal security agencies to harmonize strategies, strengthen intelligence sharing, and address potential threats ahead of the polls.
Addressing participants, the KOSIEC Chairman emphasized the need for strong synergy among stakeholders, noting that security remains critical to the success of any election.

Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi, explained that the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security comprising federal security agencies is focused on ensuring a secure and stable environment before, during, and after the elections.
With firm assurances from both the electoral body and security agencies, there is growing confidence that the forthcoming local government elections will be conducted in a peaceful, transparent, and credible manner.
