Thousands of supporters thronged the streets of Kano to welcome the state governor, Abba Yusuf at the weekend on his return from Abuja, in what appears to be a strong show of political strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking to the cheering crowd, Governor Yusuf expressed full support for President Bola Tinubu, stating that the APC is well-positioned to secure victory in 2027 following the president’s impressive performance and playing down the potency of opposition in the state.

A journey of less than twenty minutes—from the Aminu Kano International Airport to the Government House—extended to nearly eight hours, as massive crowds of supporters and residents lined the roads, chanting “Four plus four, Abba go again” at various points.
At the Government House, the visibly excited supporters were addressed by Governor Yusuf, who reiterated that President Bola Tinubu is performing well and deserves the continued support of the people of Kano.
The governor also reassured residents of his administration’s commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy.

Political observers note that if such a large turnout is translated into votes on election day, Kano State could play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.
