The Osun State House of Assembly has raised concerns over recent transfer of the state Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Dr Mutiu Agboke to Ondo State, the Assembly alleged foul play in the transfer of the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, warning that the development could affect the integrity of forthcoming elections in the state.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon Adewale Egbedun stated this while addressing a press conference at the House of Assembly Complex in Osogbo the Osun state capital .
Adewale Egbedun, on behalf of lawmakers, expressed concerns over the redeployment of Dr. Mutiu Agboke, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in Osun State , noting that the move appeared sudden and without clear justification.
Egbedun said similar changes had not been observed in Ekiti State, which precedes Osun in the electoral timetable, raising questions about the rationale behind the focus on Osun.
The assembly called on the international community, development partners, and election observers to monitor developments in Osun, emphasising the need for transparency and accountability.
