The leadership crisis rocking the Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a dramatic turn, with a High Court in Yola issuing an interim order halting the party’s planned state congress.
Justice Kyanson Lawanson granted the order following an ex-parte motion filed by Israel Ishaku, who is seeking enforcement of his fundamental rights. The court restrained key parties, including Sadiq Dasin, the ADC, and Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka (rtd), from proceeding with the congress pending determination of the suit, and adjourned the matter to April 17, 2026.
However, in a defiant move, the Congress Committee Chairman, Ishaya Bauka, rejected the court order and proceeded with the exercise, even as results were set for collation. Meanwhile, the embattled State Chairman, Shehu Yohanna, backed the court’s decision, insisting the congress remains invalid.
