Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas has commended the Federal Government’s move to establish a Livestock Academy in the State, and also assured of the State Government’s support for the initiative.
The Governor was speaking in Jalingo when he received Nigeria’s Minister Of Livestock Development at the T.Y Danjuma House.
The visit of the Minister alongside investors from the United States Of America and Ireland, was preparatory to the establishment of a Livestock Academy in Taraba State.
According to the Minister, Taraba State was selected for the project due to its large scale livestock farming, and investor-friendly environment.
The Minister lamented that pastoralists in the country have continued to depend on crude methods of livestock production, despite the advancements in the field.
Other components of the initiative are the modern techniques for dairy and beef production, and also partnership with the Taraba State University.
Governor Kefas highlighted that the State is the home of livestock, and the decision to establish the Livestock Academy in the State is a step in the right direction.
The Governor commended President Bola Tinubu’s show of passion for the project, and thanked the heads of security agencies for their efforts in making the State secure and peaceful to attract investments.
Governor Kefas said he is confident that the Federal Government’s delegation led by the minister, will effectively deliver on the project.
