Weeks of speculation have come to an end as former Kano State governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress from the Peoples Democratic party.
The development was confirmed on Sunday in a statement issued in Kano by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mustapha Mohammed.
According to the statement, Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf welcomed Shekarau back into the party and disclosed that a date will soon be announced for his formal reception.
The event, he noted, will be organized in consultation with the party’s national secretariat.
Governor Yusuf described the move as a significant boost for the APC in Kano, adding that the party continues to witness growing support and consolidation across the state.
He expressed confidence that these developments are positioning the APC as a dominant political force ahead of future elections.
The statement further emphasized that the party remains battle-ready to contest and win elective positions, citing unity and ongoing strategic alignments as key drivers of its confidence.
Governor Yusuf also called on party faithful to remain committed and intensify efforts in mobilizing support as preparations for upcoming political contests gather momentum.
