Vaniti Lagos has strongly refuted allegations that it served fake or adulterated drinks to customers, describing the claims as false and impossible.

In a statement released on the official Instagram handle of its CEO, Uyi Ogbebor (@sir_uyi), the management said its partnerships with global beverage companies guarantee the authenticity of its products.

“The same applies to all our partnerships with Global Wines (Moët Hennessy) and Pernod Ricard (Martell),” the statement read.

The club dismissed the allegations outright, insisting that its supply chain structure makes such claims untenable, backing its claims with receipts of its dealings with global brands.

“The idea that fake drinks could ever be found at Vaniti is not just false; it is impossible given the structure mentioned above,” it added.

The statement follows a post on TikTok by a man who claimed he visited Lagos from Moscow with four of his friends and suffered stomach aches after visiting the club.

In what appeared to be a campaign against the club, the man accused it of selling fake drinks. However, he did not provide proof of his visit, such as purchase receipts bearing their names or medical reports confirming hospital admission and the cause of the illness. This has raised doubts among many Lagos residents and Nigerians about the authenticity of the allegation.

Vaniti Lagos also questioned the credibility of the individual behind the claims.

“We also note that the individual behind this campaign does not appear to be based in Nigeria. As such, they should provide more circumstantial and sufficient evidence of their visit or partying at Vaniti via receipts of drink purchase, payments of said purchase, or similar proof,” the statement said.

The management further raised concerns about the motives behind the claims.

“We seriously raise very pertinent questions about the true motives and sponsorship behind these allegations and are doing everything within our power to get to the bottom of this,” it stated.

The club also called on customers who were present on the night in question to come forward with any relevant information regarding their own experience the said night.

“We also urge our esteemed customers who were genuinely present that night and consumed drinks at Vaniti on the specified date to come forward if they experienced any issues afterward. This will allow us to resolve this matter properly and transparently.”

Meanwhile Sir Uyi in an Instagram post wrote,” Some of these people don’t really know me. I will write a book one day. Some think I’m just one small boy that hammered money and came to Lagos to do business. Una go learn new things very soon.”

In another post, Uyi said he will no longer remain quiet in the face of attacks, saying he will now come all out for those after him.

He wrote, “A book is coming, my story. my truth. My evidence. Every deal. Every betrayal. every lesson. Names. Dates. Receipts. Everyone who has walked through my life in business should get ready. I have kept quiet long enough. Coming soon,” Uyi wrote.
