The Presidency has confirmed the death of former head of state Ernest Shonekan.
Senior special Assistant to the president on media and publicity Garba Shehu who confirmed the development to ait.live said the government have been officially Informed by the family of his demise.

Late Shonekan headed the Interim National Government that succeeded the junta of General Ibrahim Babangida, he was the interim head of the Nigerian Government between August 26 and November 17 1993 when he was ousted in a coup led by late General Sani Abacha.
He was also Chairman of UAC Conglomerate for several years.
