Veterinary Doctors in Kogi State have raised concerns over the growing menace of quackery, warning that unqualified practitioners are contributing to animal deaths and the transmission of diseases to humans.

The professionals made this known in Lokoja during activities marking this year’s World Veterinary Day where they also decried poor remuneration, which they say is affecting their productivity.

In Kogi State, veterinary doctors marked the Veterinary day with a roadshow, sensitising the public on the importance of maintaining a disease-free environment and preventing infections that can spread from animals to humans.

They also expressed concern over the rise of quackery in the sector, describing it as a serious threat to animal health and public safety.

Experts say increased funding for animal health system remains critical to preventing disease outbreaks and ensuring a safer, more sustainable future.
