New Nigeria People's Party, NNPP new official symbol

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has distanced itself from the recent Opposition Leaders’ Summit held in Ibadan, Oyo State stressing that it was neither represented nor involved in the coalition gathering.

The party’s National Chairman, Agbo Gilbert Major, made this known during a world press conference in Abuja.

Contrary to Agbo’s narrative, Mohammed Yunusa was reportedly recognised as acting National Chairman of the NNPP at the summit signalling a deep crisis in the party.

Major maintained that the presence of expelled members at Ibadan should not be misconstrued as official participation by the NNPP.

He revealed that the party recently held a meeting with the Independent National Electoral Commission, where it demanded the immediate upload of its recognised National Working Committee on the commission’s official portal in line with subsisting court judgments.

He warned that continued disobedience of court orders by INEC could prompt the party and other stakeholders to seek stronger measures to ensure accountability and uphold democratic principles.

The former National Chairman of the party, Ahmed Alkali has since joined the African Democratic Congress following the Court of Appeal ruling in favour of Agbo Major.
