An unusual gesture of appreciation took centre stage in Kano State, North-West Nigeria on Tuesday, as a primary school teacher, Abubakar Musa sent in a donation from part of his salary to Governor Abba Yusuf in recognition of what he describes as unprecedented achievements in the education sector.

During the 39th State Executive Council meeting, the Governor, Abba Yusuf and members of the council gave a standing ovation to honour the teacher’s good intention and show of support.

No fewer than 39 awards were presented to the Governor by various organisations and corporate bodies, acknowledging what they describe as people-oriented development across the state.

The most touching moment came from a modest contribution of N30,000 sent in by a primary school teacher through the Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Waiya.

The teacher, Abubakar Musa, moved by improvements in the education sector, chose to give part of his salary as a personal token of appreciation, a gesture that left the Governor visibly emotional.

Governor Yusuf expressed deep gratitude, describing the act as both humbling and motivating, just as his Chief Press Secretary noted that the recognition reflects public confidence and serves.

The emotional moment underscores a growing connection between leadership and citizens, where even the smallest gesture can carry powerful meaning
