President Bola Tinubu has been asked to rethink most of his economic policies as they have further impoverished workers and their families
The call was made by human rights lawyer, Femi Falana and Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC president, Joe Ajaero among other speakers at the 2026 pre-May Day lecture organised by the NLC and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC in Abuja
Earlier in the week, the TUC had asked the government to slash taxes on workers and manufacturers by 50%, to ease economic burden on families.
TUC’s position was not different from the consensus at the pre-may day lecture.
Meanwhile, concerns were also raised over shrinking decent work and expanding casualisation.
The theme of the lecture was “insecurity, poverty and the bane of decent work”
