The Ogun State Government has unveiled its plans to train over five hundred entrepreneurs in environmental services, with a strong focus on converting waste into economic opportunities.
The initiative is part of efforts to tackle the growing challenge of electronic waste in Nigeria’s industrial hub.
The announcement was made at the Environmental Protection Workshop, held in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Representing Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, said the training programme is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to transform waste into wealth, while addressing environmental and health concerns associated with improper disposal of electronic waste.

In his remarks, the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, NESREA, Prof Innocent Barikor, urged the ogun State government to ensure that environmental laws re fully implemented in the state
The themed is “Transforming E-Waste into Opportunity: Circular Economy Solutions for Ogun State.”
