Organised Labour in Rivers State has commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of civil servants since assuming office.
Speaking at the May Day rally, the Chairman of the Rivers State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Alex Agwangwor, highlighted the specific reasons why the workforce has tagged Governor Fubara the most worker-friendly governor in the state’s recent history.
The NLC Chairman also expressed delight at the massive turnout of workers this year—a stark contrast to the previous year’s low attendance, which did not hold, in protest against the declaration of a state of emergency in the state and also requested for the termination of the contributory tax politicu of givernment.

Responding to the workers’ cheers, the Rivers State Governor—represented by his Deputy, Professor Ngozi Ordu—assured the labor force that his administration is set to match the federal standard.
He pledged to replicate the welfare packages recently introduced by President Bola Tinubu for federal employees within the Rivers State civil service.
