Political stakeholders of the All-Progressives Congress in Kano state have thrown their weight behind Governor Abba Yusuf, adopting him as their sole consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The late-night meeting, which stretched into the early hours of Friday, also produced a resounding endorsement to work for President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office.
From serving and former lawmakers at all levels to local government chairmen, ex-governors, and key party stakeholders, the gathering brought together a broad coalition of APC power brokers in Kano for extensive period of deliberations.

In the end, a motion to adopt Governor Abba Yusuf as the party’s sole candidate was moved, seconded, and overwhelmingly endorsed with nomination form. presented to him.
While stakeholders return to their respective local government areas and federal constituencies to replicate the consensus arrangement for other elective positions, governor Yusuf cautioned against negative energy that may diffuse the process.
While party leaders express confidence in the consensus strategy, they maintain that where it fails at the grassroots, democratic primaries will be conducted to determine candidates.
