The Kano State Executive Council has approved over ₦61 billion for major development projects aimed at improving living standards across the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, disclosed this after the Council’s 39th meeting, noting that the approvals span critical sectors including health, agriculture, water supply, and urban renewal.

In the health sector, funds were approved for the renovation of the General Hospital in Wudil, support for routine immunisation, maternal and child healthcare services, and the procurement of modern medical equipment.

Over ₦3 billion was also allocated to agriculture, environment, and urban renewal for fertiliser supply, irrigation support, and agricultural infrastructure upgrades.

To address water scarcity, the Council approved the rehabilitation of faulty water treatment plants and the emergency drilling of boreholes.

Other approvals cover transportation, civil service welfare, urban planning, and logistics for the upcoming Hajj operations.

The state government says the investments are targeted at improving the welfare and living conditions of residents.
