The latest decamping of African Democratic Congress Chieftain and Labour Party Presidential candidate in the 2023 election is drawing backlash from the political terrain.
Some of those who have reacted to Obi’s latest move include the All Progressives Congress, the Presidency, and former media aide, Reno Omokri.
In a post on X, the National Publicity Secretary of APC Felix Morka described Peter Obi as a political rolling stone that gathers no moss, roaming again in search of free, uncontested, unchallenged Presidential ticket.
Presidential media aide, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on X on Sunday, described Obi’s move as predictable.
According to him, the former presidential candidate would struggle to compete with the ADC’s political heavyweight, such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi.
Onanuga noted that Obi’s political trajectory had been marked by repeated party switches saying such pattern raises questions about his long-term strategy ahead of 2027.
On his part, Ambassador-designate Reno Omokri also on his X account stated, ” once can be a mistake, twice may be a coincidence. But after the third, and then the fourth time it becomes a pattern”., questioning his political inconsistency.
The former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, had announced his departure from the African Democratic Congress on his X account on Sunday, citing worsening internal crises within the party and broader national challenges.
