The Progressive Governors Forum, PGF, of the All Progressives Congress, APC has dismissed reports claiming that Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was removed as chairman following a purported meeting of 20 governors in Abuja.
The PGF Secretariat clarified that no such meeting or resolution occurred, asserting that Uzodimma remains the legitimate chairman of the forum
This follows earlier reports that
a decision was taken at an “extraordinary meeting” in Abuja which had Governors of Ogun, Bayelsa and Enugu present.
The report claimed that the decision was taken after the ceremonial submission of nomination forms by VP Kashim Shettima on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.
In a swift statement issued hours later, the PGF described the report of the removal of Uzodimma as false.
The statement signed by the PGF Director-General, Folorunso Aluko maintained that no meeting ever held where such decision was taken.
FULL STATEMENT BELOW:
“The attention of the Progressive Governors Forum has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating in some media platforms alleging the removal of its Chairman, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Progressive Governors Forum states categorically that the report is entirely false, baseless, and without an iota of truth.”
“No meeting of the Forum was held at which any such decision was taken. The PGF Secretariat has no record of, and is not aware of, any resolution removing the Chairman. His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, remains the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum.
“The Forum remains united, focused, and committed to its responsibilities. Members of the public, party faithful, and the media are therefore advised to disregard the said report in its entirety”
