Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have uncovered and dismantled two illegal arms manufacturing factories in Vom, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The operation was carried out by troops of the Quick Response Force on Thursday as part of ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illicit firearms and improve security across the Joint Operations Area.

Military authorities say the raid followed sustained intelligence gathering and surveillance operations, which led troops to the illegal weapon production sites.

During the operation, five suspects were arrested while allegedly fabricating weapons.

Items recovered from the factories include nine fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, four empty AK-47 magazines, seven skeletal AK-47 rifles and ten rifle butts.

The suspects and recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation.

Operation ENDURING PEACE says troops are continuing covert operations to recover more illegal arms already in circulation while urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
