At least 18 All Progressives Congress, APC, Governors have passed a vote of confidence on Governor Hope Uzodimma and Governor Uba Sani’s leadership of the Progressive Governors Forum, PGF.

This follows an emergency meeting of the Forum on Friday, hours after Governor Uzodimma was said to have been removed as the Chairman of the body.

The Governors also expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, insisting that the APC remains united ahead of its primaries and the 2027 polls.

It was an emergency meeting convened by Governor Uzodimma as Chairman of the Forum in the wake of Thursday night’s widespread reports that some of his colleagues led by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun had removed him as PGF chairman.

The claim was swiftly rejected, and hours later, an emergency meeting was called.

By 3pm, Governors on the party’s platform began trickling in, including the Vice Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Kaduna state, Uba Sani, Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos, Edo state’s Monday Okpebholo, Gombe’s Inuwa Yahaya among others.

After the meeting, Uzodimma briefed confirming the resolutions backing President Tinubu and the party.

Kebbi State’s Nasir Idris presented the Forum’s statement on its leadership while the PGF Vice Chairman, Uba Sani clarified that all which had happened were mere distractions.

With majority of the 31 APC Governors present at the meeting, the Uzodimma-led PGF may have just sent a message on who is in control.
