Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, and later Budget and National Planning, Professor Chu Okongwu is dead.
A close family source who disclosed this to ait.live said the octogenarian died in Enugu, South-East Nigeria on Wednesday
Born on September 23, 1934, Professor Okongwu served between 1986 and 1990 as Finance Minister before he was made Minister of National Planning under the mill regime of General Ibrahim Babangida.

The late technocrat was educated at the Boston University Massachusetts where he majored in Economics and later attended Harvard University.
