The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Shehu Gabam, has rejected the convention organised in Bauchi by a faction of the party led by Sadi Abubakar Gombe, describing the gathering as illegitimate.
Gabam said the convention did not have the backing of the party’s recognised leadership and therefore cannot stand as a valid convention of the SDP.
He stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission reinstated him following court orders affirming his position as the legitimate national chairman of the party.
