Troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have recorded another significant operational success against terrorists in Kogi State.

In a well-coordinated ambush conducted on Sunday, 10 May 2026, troops neutralized a terrorist and recovered a cache of arms along a known crossing point within the Adankolo Forest reserve in Lokoja Local Government Area.

A statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, explained that the breakthrough occurred under Operation Tiger Paw II.

Acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected terrorists, troops from the Brigade’s Quick Response Group laid in wait at a strategic crossing point in the early hours of the morning.

During the operation, the troops made contact with the criminal elements and engaged them in a fierce firefight.

This resulted in the neutralization of one terrorist, while several others fled into the surrounding bush with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.

Following the encounter, a thorough search of the area led to the recovery of a significant haul of weaponry and logistics, including:

Two AK-47 rifles and one fabricated pistol,
six magazines and 145 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
One camouflage bandolier and one Honda motorcycle.
Three mobile phones, three power banks, and medical supplies (Diclofenac).
The sum of Sixty-Two Thousand, Nine Hundred Naira (₦62,900.00).

The successful ambush is part of the sustained efforts by the 12 Brigade to deny terrorists freedom of action and enhance security for communities and travellers along major routes within Kogi State and its environs.

Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi confirmed that troops are currently exploiting the general area to track and apprehend the fleeing terrorists.

The Brigade remains resolute in its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely information.
