The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has warned residents of Kogi State against double voter registration as it continues the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise across the state’s 21 local government areas.
The commission also raised concern over the high number of uncollected Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, in the state.
The warning comes as the electoral body intensifies preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In Lokoja, the Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Shehu Abdulwahab, described multiple registration, as a criminal offence under Nigeria’s Electoral law
The commission further expressed concern over the large number of uncollected PVCs in Kogi State, stressing that the PVC remains the only valid document for voting.
It also noted that preliminary figures show higher participation among women compared to men in the ongoing registration exercise across the state
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to credible elections and urged eligible citizens to complete their registration ahead of the 2027 polls.
