Bauchi State Government and the United Nations Children’s Fund, Unicef have launched a project to climate-proof 15 healthcare centres and nine schools across five local government areas.

The initiative, titled “CRIBS,” aims to protect essential services from extreme weather.

Flagging off the project in Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau warned that children are the most vulnerable to climate-driven floods and storms.

He noted that these upgrades will ensure that healthcare and education remain uninterrupted during environmental crises.

Unicef’s Bauchi Field Office Chief, Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, added that the “CRIBS” model is a critical step in building long-term resilience for mothers and children.

Local health and education leaders praised the pilot for bringing infrastructure in line with global best practices.
