Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Appeal Panel for Rivers State House of Assembly aspirants, Abdul Mahmud, has confirmed that the initial screening committee cleared only 33 aspirants while 65 others were disqualified.
Mahmud made this known during the panel’s sitting, in Port Harcourt to review petitions following the party’s screening exercise.
Mahmud affirmed that according to the official list provided by the party, only 33 aspirants successfully scaled the screening process.
However, he noted that the 65 rejected aspirants have the opportunity to present their grievances and seek clearance before the panel.
Also speaking at the venue, the State APC Publicity Secretary, Chibuike Ikenga, noted that the sitting validates the party’s transparent processes.
He maintained that the appeal window is a constitutional right for those who feel unfairly screened out to seek redress.
The appeal exercise is expected to conclude on Wednesday.
