Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has approved the constitution of a Consensus Committee on Party Harmonisation and Aspirants’ Engagement ahead of the primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The move is aimed at strengthening party unity and internal democracy.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, the committee will engage aspirants, party leaders and stakeholders to promote dialogue, consensus-building and political stability within the party.
The statement noted that the committee is expected to facilitate amicable resolutions in constituencies where multiple interests exist and encourage voluntary withdrawals where necessary in the interest of party unity.
The committee is chaired by the Deputy Governor, while the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly and other senior government and party officials are members.
The government says the initiative reflects Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to inclusive leadership, consultation and strengthening internal cohesion ahead of the elections.
The administration says the consensus-driven approach is aimed at positioning the ruling party for a united and successful outing at the polls.
