Chairman of the National Sports Commission, NSC, Shehu Dikko, has projected that Team Nigeria could win between 18 and 22 gold medals at the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Dikko made the projection on the sidelines of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria board meeting and retreat in Abuja.

He added that the commission is committed to creating an enabling environment for athletes to excel on the international stage.
When asked about Nigeria’s bid to host a future edition of the Commonwealth Games, after an unsuccessful attempt at the 2030 edition, Dikko clarified that the country’s ambition to host the Games remains very much alive.
