Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has secured the conviction of one Prophet Ajiboye Abayomi Olayinka, who is the General Overseer of Mission House of Divine Land of Joy and Prayer Ministry, over rape and sexual offences involving minors.
The development is contained in a statement by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, in Kwara State Command, ASC1 Ayoola Michael, and made available to journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, North-Central Nigeria.
According to the statement, Justice Hammed Aliyu Gegele of the Kwara State High Court sentenced the cleric to life imprisonment on multiple rape charges and an additional 14-year jail term for illegal abortion.
The NSCDC said the conviction followed investigations by its Gender Unit after the suspect’s arrest in May 2024 over alleged sexual abuse of underage victims in Agah Village, Ilorin South Local Government Area.
The Command commended the victims for their courage and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and prosecuting perpetrators of sexual and gender-based violence.
