The Nigerian Police Force has dismissed and paraded eight of its officers in Rivers State.

The rogue operatives allegedly operated a syndicate specializing in kidnapping, armed robbery, extortion, and criminal conspiracy targeting innocent citizens.

Deputy Commissioner of Police and Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony placid paraded the suspects in Port Harcourt, revealing how the officers forcefully transferred millions of Naira from their victims’ bank accounts.

The dismissed officers, paraded at the Rivers State Police Headquarters, face severe criminal charges after internal disciplinary actions that stripped them of their uniforms.

According to the Police Spokesperson, DCP, Anthony placid, the suspects systematically targeted citizens, using their official positions to detain victims and illegally transfer funds from their mobile banking applications.

The syndicates operated in two distinct groups. The first group comprises three dismissed officers formerly attached to Zone 16 in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

They allegedly abducted a citizen, Festus Saturday, and his cousin along the Igbo-Etche Road in Rivers State, extorting a massive sum of money. Two other accomplices from the syndicate are said to be at large.

The second group involved five dismissed officers previously attached to the Rivers State Police Command. Operating with one accomplice, who is currently on the run, this ring specialized in highway extortion and armed robbery under the guise of official police stop-and-search operations.

The force public relations officer said the suspects will be charged to court
