Ekiti State Police Command has arrested 11 suspected political thugs in Ikun-Ekiti ahead of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), primary election for the Federal House of Representatives scheduled for 16th May 2026.
One of the suspects paraded by the police at the state police command Akure was said to be a special assistant to the Governor of Ekiti state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Micheal, informed the journalists present that the arrests was due to the credible intelligence received on 14th May 2026 on the activities of a group of suspected armed hoodlums sighted inside a hotel in Ikun-Ekiti.
The suspects according to the police boss will be charged to court after due investigation into the matter. He warned residents in the state to go about their normal businesses , remain law-abiding and avoid actions that could threaten peace before, during, and after the election. He said the command, in collaboration with other security agencies will deal decisively with anyone attempting to breach public order.
