President Bola Tinubu has condemned the killing of a teacher kidnapped during a violent attack on Esiele community in Oyo State, South-West Nigeria describing the incident as barbaric and unacceptable, while assuring that security agencies are making concerted efforts to rescue all remaining victims.

The attack occurred last Friday in Oriire Local Government Area when bandits invaded the community and stormed several schools, including Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School with staff members, students, and pupils kidnapped during the incident, prompting a major security response.

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Monday , President Tinubu expressed sadness over the killing of the kidnapped teacher and extended sympathy to the families of the victims, Governor Seyi Makinde, and the people of Oyo State.

He assured that the Federal Government is working closely with the Oyo State Government to secure the safe return of all kidnapped persons, while commending security agencies for their swift response and ongoing rescue operations.

Tinubu also praised the Inspector-General of Police and Commissioners of Police in Oyo and Kwara States for deploying tactical teams and the Intelligence Response Team, IRT to the affected areas, noting that he is personally monitoring a tech-driven operation aimed at tracking the attackers.

The President warned that the perpetrators and their collaborators would be brought to justice, expressing confidence that security forces would achieve a breakthrough soon.

He further reiterated his call for the establishment of state police, saying the growing incidents of kidnapping highlight the need for stronger local security structures.

He urged the National Assembly to expedite legislative action on the matter.
