Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has praised political stakeholders for embracing consensus in the emergence of senatorial candidates in the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the process as peaceful, mature, and free from major disagreements.
The governor stated this during the affirmation of Senator Kawu Sumaila as the consensus candidate for Kano South Senatorial District, expressing confidence that elected lawmakers would work closely with the state government to accelerate development across Kano State.
The governor expressed optimism that lawmakers emerging through the consensus process would partner with the state government in delivering more democratic dividends and infrastructural development to the people.
Governor Yusuf highlighted ongoing projects under his administration while calling on residents to sustain their support for the government.
The consensus arrangement has continued to shape the political landscape in Kano, as aspirants seeking election and re-election into the National Assembly have largely accepted the outcome of the consensus mode across senatorial districts and federal constituencies.
