A new Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) has been deployed to head the zone five headquarters of the Nigerian police comprising Edo, Delta and Bayelsa states.
He is AIG Lawan Tanko Jimeta.
In a press release by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer Tijani Momoh, the new AIG assumed duty on 13th of January 2022 after taking over from AIG Ahmad abdurRahman who has been redeployed to the Nigeria Police Academy Wudil in Kano State barely a month after he was posted to the zone.
AIG Jimeta is a graduate of English language from the University of Maiduguri and also a Masters holder in Peace and Conflict Studies from the National Open University.

The Zonal Police image maker further said that AIG Jimeta has served in various capacities in the Nigeria Police including Edo State Commissioner of Police , Personal Assistant to the AIG of Police, Department of Training and Development, FHQ Annex, Lagos State and Chief of Training, Directorate on Peace-keeping, FHQ, Abuja as well as Area Commander, Suleja.
While assuring his readiness to fight crime headlong, the new AIG Zone 5 solicited cooperation from the good people of the Zone to assist the Police with useful and timely information that will enhance in curbing crimes and criminality in the entire Zone.
