Former minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi has rejected the results of African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential primaries coming from 24 states, describing it as “concocted” as election committee commences collation exercise in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Ameachi who posted on his social media handle during the presidential primary election collation and declaration results which is underway in Abuja, said he had initially stated that he will only accept the outcome of the primaries if the process was free, fair, and transparent and still maintains the position.

The former Rivers State Governor said the process does not reflect the values that the ADC had pledged to uphold, in rescuing Nigerians from the impunity and gross mismanagement that the country is currently facing in the hands of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The party’s presidential aspirant claimed that about 80% of members were not allowed to vote during the exercise and the leadership of the party should not expect him to accept such results.

Amaechi noted that the outcome of the results is a clear indication that the ADC is deviating from its core mandate to give Nigerians a platform to amplify the voices of the downtrodden and make it a better place for everyone irrespective backgrounds, ethnicity or religion.

He said the party has been criticising the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for vote rigging, buying, forging of results and other electoral malpractices that have lead to the disenfranchisement of voters and party members.

Another aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen had earlier on his social media handle also expressed worry over reports coming from states across the country indicating that there is widespread vote rigging and buying.

AIT.live gathered that the ADC’s National Chairman, David Mark had a closed-door meeting with the three presidential aspirants, including Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen at his residence in Abuja before rejection of the results by the two party leaders as the collation and declaration of Presidential primary election results commenced.
