The Police Command in Plateau State says it has arrested two suspected Sara-Suka cult members and recovered dangerous weapons as well as suspected illicit substances in separate operations in Jos.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, the arrests were made by operatives of the Anti-Cyber Crime and Narcotics Unit and officers attached to the Angwan Rogo Division.
According to the statement, one Adam Abdullahi, aged 18 and a resident of Yen Siminti in Rikkos, was arrested at Gengere. Police say he was found in possession of a double-edged knife, suspected cult-related attires and substances believed to be crystal methamphetamine, popularly known as “ice.”
In a related development, officers of the Angwan Rogo Division arrested 20-year-old Khalifa Yusuf of Angwan Rimi, Jos, at the 011 Prayer Ground opposite the University of Jos permanent site.
Items recovered from the suspect include a knife and dry leaves suspected to be cannabis.
The Police Command says both suspects are currently in custody undergoing investigation and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling crime and drug-related offences across Plateau State and called on residents to continue providing useful information to security agencies.
